Repolling held on two AJK seats: PML-N wins LA-16, PPP emerges victorious in LA-15 Bagh

BAGH (Aug 15, 2026): Repolling held on two AJK seats, LA-15 and LA-16 Bagh, on Saturday. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has clinched the seat from LA-16 Bagh while Pakistan People’s Party has taken LA15. According to unconfirmed and unofficial results, the PML-N’s candidate Sardar Mir Akbar Khan bagged 20,796 votes to defeat the Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) candidate Sardar Qamar-uz-Zaman, who secured 16,962 votes.

Similarly, the PPP took the LA-15 Bagh seat as its candidate Zia-ul-Qamar got 17,118 votes to beat PML-N’s Mushtaq Minhas, who got 15,227 votes. The repolling was held at two polling stations of LA15 and 10 polling stations of LA16 on Saturday. On the other hand, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has yet to decide the name of the next Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) as a high-level party meeting, held in Murree under the chairmanship of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, discussed multiple names, sources said.

The matters concerning government formation in Azad Kashmir were settled to some extent. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also participated in the meeting.
