LAHORE (Sept 26): Police in Lahore have launched a major criminal investigation after a 20-year-old Azerbaijan tourist was allegedly drugged and gang-raped in the affluent Defence area.
The victim, identified as Diana, had arrived in the city some 14 days before the attack.
According to the initial police report, the victim was lured to a local café by two unidentified women on Friday. Upon arrival, they were met by three men who were already waiting at the venue. After spending time at the café, the suspects transported the foreign national to a nearby flat.
The victim was given a spiked drink at the flat, rendering her vulnerable, before being subjected to an alleged gang-rape by the three men. Following the assault, the suspects drove the victim to an area near Fruit Chowk at the Ghazi Interchange, where they abandoned her before fleeing the scene.

The suspects also robbed the woman before discarding her, stealing her iPhone and another smartphone.
Lahore’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Investigation, Syed Zeeshan Raza, took immediate notice of the high-profile incident. A special task force has been formed under the leadership of Superintendent of Police (SP) Investigation Cantt, Asim Iftikhar, to oversee the case.

Senior officers confirmed that police teams have identified the individuals involved in the assault. Law enforcement agencies are currently utilizing all available resources, including forensic evidence and geofencing, to locate and arrest the fugitives.
