NEW YORK (Oct 12): The Hollywood actress Selma Blair has been arrested following an alleged mid-air rampage on a New York-bound flight, during which she reportedly tried to force open the aircraft door, punched one flight attendant, and bit another.
The Cruel Intentions and Legally Blonde star, 54, was taken into custody by the Port Authority Police Department immediately after Delta Air Lines Flight 938 touched down at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
The disturbance broke out late on Sunday evening as the flight, which had departed from Los Angeles, was well into its journey to Queens, New York. Witnesses reported that the actress became severely agitated and made a desperate attempt to open the cabin door while the aircraft was cruising at altitude.
When the cabin crew stepped in to restrain her, the situation quickly turned violent. Airline sources claim that Ms Blair lashed out, inflicting a bloody nose and a laceration on one flight attendant before sinking her teeth into a second crew member. Both victims required medical attention, with one being rushed to a nearby hospital straight from the tarmac.

The fracas did not end when the wheels hit the runway. Law enforcement sources allege that as officers boarded the plane to apprehend the star, Ms Blair kicked a police officer in the head during the struggle. She was subsequently removed from the aircraft and transported under guard to a local hospital for a psychiatric and physical evaluation.
A spokesperson for the actress has since issued a statement, attributing the shocking altercation to an unforeseen medical episode. The representative stated:
“Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.”
Because the alleged offences occurred mid-flight inside US airspace, the investigation has been elevated to federal authorities. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is currently leading the inquiry alongside local transit police to determine the exact sequence of events and finalise charges.
