KARACHI (Oct 16): Saudi-based tailor visiting family in Karachi was brutally murdered by his own cousin, who then severed the young man’s right hand and sent it to his parents in a depraved attempt to stage a 700,000-rupee kidnapping plot.
Zain-ul-Abideen, who worked in Saudi Arabia, vanished on October 14 after leaving his family’s home in Steel Town on a motorcycle. When he failed to return, his frantic family launched a desperate search before filing a missing person report with the local police.
The case took a sinister turn when the family received a chilling ransom call demanding 700,000 rupees. The extortionists ordered the family to a designated drop-off location, but never showed up. In a psychological ploy designed to terrorise the parents, the killers also dumped Zain’s mobile phone and slippers at his family home to convince them he was being held captive.
Detectives tracking the case focused their attention on Zain’s cousin, Faisal. Under intense police interrogation, Faisal broke down and confessed to the heinous crime, guiding officers to a rubbish dump where Zain’s body had been stuffed into a sack, wrapped in cloth, and discarded.
According to police sources, the murder was triggered by a dispute over a woman. Faisal, Zain, and an unnamed woman were together when Faisal began filming her. Zain strongly objected to the recording, sparking a violent argument that ended with Faisal murdering his cousin. Faisal and an accomplice then hid the body to concoct the ransom hoax. While Faisal is in custody, police are actively hunting the accomplice.
