ISLAMABAD (Aug 19, 2026): The federal government on Wednesday slashed the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) by over Rs.32 but increased the petrol price. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy, the price of diesel per liter has been cut by Rs 32.63, while the petrol price was raised by Rs 2.97.

Following the latest revision in petroleum product prices, high-speed diesel now stands at Rs 363.06 per liter, while petrol is priced at Rs 337.51.
Earlier, the Federal Minister for Energy Ali Pervaiz Malik said in a statement to the media that the government is fully aware of the public’s grievances and has taken steps to provide relief to the people.

He said that relief was provided to the public through targeted subsidies, and the government is striving to resolve these issues. This difficult time will surely pass.

Ali Pervaiz Malik added that on the instructions of the Prime Minister, several meetings were held with oil refineries, and they have assured a significant reduction in diesel prices. We are grateful to the oil refineries for this cooperation.
On Tuesday, the government raised the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel by Rs3.34 and Rs5.27 per liter, respectively.
