Pakistanis are deeply shaken by a sprawling international child pornograpy network, a crime made all the more shocking to this conservative society because it involved a father making and selling the explicit videos of his own children.

Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on Sunday announced the disruption of two major online child exploitation operations, resulting in multiple arrests across the country following a coordinated investigation involving international intelligence support.

Officials confirmed the dual crackdowns in press briefings, detailing enforcement actions extending from Skardu to Karachi.

Enforcement action in Skardu

During a press conference in Islamabad, NCCIA Additional Director Mohammad Shoaib Khan stated that investigators launched an inquiry after receiving source reports and data from international agencies regarding encrypted Telegram groups utilizing crypto currency for illicit transactions involving child exploitation material.

The investigation led authorities to Skardu, where a special operations team apprehended a suspect alleged to be a primary coordinator of the local network. According to the agency’s initial findings, the suspect is accused of producing illegal material involving minors, aged four to five, within his own household.

“An aggressive crackdown is underway to block associated accounts and identify all connected entities,” Khan stated, noting that the investigation’s scope has been expanded to Multan and Southern Punjab. The public has been advised to report related cybercrimes via the agency’s dedicated ‘1799’ hotline.

Corporate fronts targeted in Karachi

In a separate operation in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, the NCCIA raided a location operating under the guise of legitimate digital art and design businesses. Authorities took 42 individuals into custody, with 13 formally arrested on charges related to the creation of animated exploitation material and subsequent blackmail.

NCCIA Additional Director Tariq Nawaz reported that the suspects operated three entities, Art Design, Pixel Craft, and Art Office, out of the Rabia City complex. The network allegedly utilized social media platforms under false identities to connect with clients in international jurisdictions, including the United States and Germany, to distribute customized animated material.

According to law enforcement, the operators also engaged in blackmail schemes targeting the buyers of the material. Twelve minors were recovered by authorities during the course of the Karachi operation.

Following the arrests, the NCCIA presented more than ten suspects, including individuals identified as Azhar, Anfaal, and Ansar, before a Judicial Magistrate East court in Karachi.

Judicial remand granted

The investigating officer requested custody to facilitate the apprehension of remaining fugitives connected to the network. The court granted a four-day physical remand to allow the NCCIA to proceed with deeper interrogation regarding the local and international links of the operation.
