TEHRAN (Sept 2): Iranian state media and the Red Crescent reported that in an airstrike US forces hit a family home during a wedding party in Sirik, southern Iran, early Wednesday morning, killing and wounding more than 50 men, women and children.

At least five people died, including a 4-year-old child, and anywhere from 50 to 68 others were injured, Iranian media said.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baqaei, confirmed the strike on X and promised that Tehran will hit back “with firmness.”
He said over 50 men, women, and children were caught in the blast. Baqaei also noted that this wasn’t an isolated incident, pointing to a wider wave of US strikes hitting areas like Minab, Lamerd, and Qeshm Island.

“Their silence is not neutrality,” he warned, stating that those who look the other way “will not be immune to its consequences tomorrow.”
Baqaei criticized international organizations and foreign governments for keeping quiet, warning that their silence isn’t neutrality and that ignoring the situation will have consequences later.
The attack happened after US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced it was targeting Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) positions inside Iran.

Following that announcement, loud explosions were reported across Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, Sirik, Chabahar, and Konarak, with state TV adding that Jiroft Airport in Kerman Province was also hit. Ahmad Nafisi, the deputy governor of Hormozgan Province, backed up the initial casualty numbers, confirming that the strike directly hit the wedding celebration.
