ISLAMABAD (Sept 21): Pakistani fighter jets have launched a series of blistering, midnight airstrikes deep inside eastern Afghanistan, targeting militant strongholds in a dramatic escalation of cross-border tensions.
The precision strikes, executed in the early hours of Monday morning, ripped through camps in the Paktika and Kunar provinces. The raids explicitly targeted the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to by Islamabad as Fitna al-Khawarij. Local Afghan sources report that the bombardment in Paktika successfully eliminated several senior insurgent commanders and key operatives.
Neither Afghan nor Pakistani authorities have issued an official response to the strike, which caught the government in Kabul completely off guard.
The thunder of low-flying jets and heavy ordinance shattered the night sky at around 3:30 AM, jolting residents out of their sleep across the Nurgal district of Kunar province. Social media was quickly flooded with reports of low-level supersonic runs over the Patang area, where the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) reportedly leveled multiple active training camps and logistics bases.
While Pakistani military officials maintained that the operations strictly utilized precision-guided munitions to target verified insurgent hideouts without harming civilians, the cross-border raids are certain to trigger a furious diplomatic backlash from the ruling Taliban regime in Kabul.
