ISLAMABAD (Nov 3): Pakistan’s military on Tuesday announced the successful maiden flight test of its first domestically produced air-to-air missile, a development defense analysts view as a major step forward for the country’s independent aerospace program.

The new weapon system, named Fa’az, is equipped with advanced terminal guidance technology designed to lock onto and intercept hostile aircraft at extended ranges, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing.

Military officials said the integration of the Fa’az missile will provide the Pakistan Air Force with greater tactical and operational flexibility, altering the regional aerial combat dynamic by reducing reliance on foreign weapon suppliers. The successful launch is being highlighted by defense officials as clear evidence of growing technological self-reliance within the domestic defense sector.

The test launch was monitored by senior commanders from the Pakistan Armed Forces, alongside the engineering and scientific teams responsible for the missile’s design and production.
