HHYDERABAD (Sept 16): Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party (STP) Chairman Dr Qadir Magsi has strongly rejected any proposal to divide Sindh, announcing a phase-wise political campaign from Thatta on September 20 against the creation of new administrative units.
Addressing a press conference at the Hyderabad Press Club on Wednesday, Magsi alleged that recent proposals for administrative divisions are covert attempts to undermine Sindh’s territorial integrity. He emphasized that safeguarding the Indus River and the geographical boundaries of Sindh remain core priorities for his party.

The STP chief criticized recent statements by certain federal ministers on the matter, labeling them “irresponsible” and accusing them of stoking fear and uncertainty during an already challenging period for the country. He maintained that decisions regarding the division of any province—whether Punjab, Balochistan, or Khyber Pakhtunkhwa—must be left entirely to their respective populations.
“We consider Pakistan our country and want to see it progress as a civilized nation,” Magsi stated, adding that politics centered on linguistic divisions are obsolete. He called for dialogue and collaborative efforts to secure the future of the youth, while explicitly distancing his party from armed struggle and urging authorities to defuse potential communal tensions.
To mobilize public support, Magsi proposed a broad-based alliance of political stakeholders in Sindh and released a detailed schedule for the party’s upcoming public contact campaign:
- September 20: Thatta (Campaign Launch)
- September 28: Gharo
- October 3: Digri
- October 9: Badin
- October 16: Tando Muhammad Khan
- October 23: Sujawal
- October 30: Matiari
- November 6: Nawabshah
- November 15: Karachi (Public rally at Shahrah-e-Quaideen)
Additionally, the STP will host an ‘All Sindh National Conference’ in Hyderabad on October 11, inviting intellectuals, writers, and political leaders to discuss the province’s future. Magsi added that the party will also engage with the legal community and address various bar councils to garner support for their stance.
