LAHORE (Oct 6): An extraordinary late-night sting operation in Lahore has seen Superintendent of Attock Jail arrested at the official residence of the Punjab Inspector General of Prisons, following an alleged attempt to bribe his superior officer.
The suspect, identified as Imran Naveed, was apprehended in a swift raid coordinated by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) team directly from the IG Prisons’ home. Authorities confirmed that officers successfully recovered a sum of two hundred thousand rupees from the scene.
According to senior prison officials, the dramatic sequence of events unfolded when the Attock Jail Superintendent arrived at the Lahore residence of the newly appointed Inspector General Prison, Salik Jalal, ostensibly to offer his congratulations on the IG’s promotion.

Refusing to entertain the illicit offering, IG Prisons Salik Jalal immediately contacted the Home Secretary to report the breach of conduct. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Home Secretary promptly alerted the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Establishment.
During the course of the meeting, Imran Naveed allegedly attempted to proffer Rs 200,000 as a ‘gift’ to his boss.
Acting with immense urgency, the DG of Anti Corruption personally led a tactical team to the IG’s residence. The unit caught the Attock Jail Superintendent red-handed, taking him into custody and seizing the cash intended for the ‘gift’. An investigation into the matter is now underway.
