HYDERABAD (Oct 6): A gruesome murder inquiry has been launched in Hyderabad after a man allegedly killed his work colleague and close friend before burying the body beneath the courtyard of his own home.

The victim, identified as 33-year-old Ashiq Solangi, vanished without a trace over a week ago. Alarmed by his sudden disappearance, his brother formally raised the alarm, prompting police at the Tando Yusuf police station to register a missing person’s case.

As the days passed, detectives focused their attention on the victim’s social circle and workplace, noting that both Ashiq and the prime suspect, Qadir Solangi, were employed at the same local factory. Operating on growing suspicion, police took Qadir into custody for interrogation.

Under intense questioning, the suspect cracked and confessed to the murder. He went on to lead investigators directly to his residence, pointing out a freshly dug shallow grave in his courtyard where he had hidden the remains.

Acting swiftly, a forensic team exhumed the body under the strict supervision of a local judicial magistrate. The remains have since been transferred to a nearby hospital for a comprehensive post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death. While the suspect remains in custody, senior officers confirmed that a thorough investigation is still underway to determine the exact motive behind the killing.
