PESHAWAR (Sept 16): The parents of the victims at Army Public School (APS) have announced that they will take their case to the International Court of Justice if the Supreme Court’s decisions are not implemented.
The aggrieved parents said on Wednesday that they were shocked to learn that case number HR18200K, which relates to the APS tragedy, had been removed from the Apex Court’s website; they demanded an explanation.
They also emphasized the need for immediate implementation of the October 20, 2021 orders issued by the apex court. They held a press conference at the Press Club in Peshawar, stating that it has been over 11 years since the tragic incident on December 16, 2014, but those responsible have not yet faced justice.
The aggrieve mothers and fathers revealed that after the establishment of the Judicial Commission in April 2018, they submitted their report to the High Court and later moved a petition before the Supreme Court. The first hearing took place on September 25, 2020, where former Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed summoned then-Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The parents stated that no concrete progress had been made since December 9, 2021, when a federal team—consisting of Federal Ministers Omar Ayub and Zartaj Gul, along with the Attorney General—met with them to discuss the case. The victims’ relatives said they would approach the International Court of Justice if their demands were not fulfilled and justice was not dispensed within one month.
The parents of APS victims emphasized that they do not want any compensation, concessions or favors but only justice for their innocent children who lost their lives in the tragedy.
