LAHORE (Oct 28): A wedding ceremony in Lahore’s Shadbagh neighborhood descended into chaos after a banquet hall waiter exposed the groom’s alleged double life, leading to a public confrontation by his jilted lover and the subsequent kidnapping of the whistleblower.
The groom, identified by police as Hammad, is now in custody alongside two accomplices, facing criminal charges instead of celebrating his nuptials.
According to police officials, the dramatic turn of events unfolded when a vigilant waiter spotted Hammad arriving for his wedding. Recognizing the groom, the waiter immediately phoned a female relative, informing her that the man she believed she was in a relationship with was currently getting married to someone else.
The revelation prompted the aggrieved woman to rush directly to the marriage hall. Her unexpected arrival sparked an explosive confrontation, disrupting the ongoing ceremony and triggering widespread panic among the guests.
Local police stated that the sudden unraveling of his wedding plans left the groom infuriated. In a desperate bid for retaliation against the waiter who exposed him, Hammad, assisted by his associates Afzal and Sarmad, forcefully abducted the waiter from the venue.
Law enforcement responded rapidly to reports of the kidnapping. Superintendent of Police (SP) City, Arshad Hayat Kanji, confirmed that a police team intervened swiftly, successfully recovering the abducted waiter and apprehending the groom and his two co-conspirators.
A formal case has been registered against Hammad, Afzal, and Sarmad, and further legal proceedings are underway.
