No strategic asset or sensitive infrastructure was compromised in Pakistan, says Andrabi

ISLAMABAD (Aug 28): Pakistan has rejected claims surrounding the recent visit of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to Iran that he went to Tehran as an envoy of US President Donald Trump or the United States, describing such claims as “misleading and factually incorrect”.
Speaking at his weekly press briefing here on Thursday, FO spokesperson Tahir Andrabi made it clear that the visit happened strictly within Pakistan’s independent capacity as a mediator.
Andrabi said the August 24 trip was purely part of Pakistan’s ongoing push to mediate and help find a peaceful way out of the US–Iran conflict. The spokesperson also dismissed former Indian CDS General Anil Chauhan’s retrospective claims about the Kirana Hills incident.
He pointed out that during Marka-e-Haq, Pakistan’s air defence successfully locked down and thwarted Indian objectives. “Pakistan’s layered air defence network effectively thwarted India’s military objectives… No strategic asset or sensitive infrastructure was compromised in Pakistan,” Andrabi said.
“Attempts to retrospectively recast these events through selective narratives or dramatised productions cannot alter the verifiable operational record. History is established by facts and evidence, not by Bollywood-style retrospective claims. These post-facto punches, 16 or 17 months after the conflict, would be better directed at their own faces,” he added.

On another front, the FO spokesperson noted that Pakistan has lodged a strong diplomatic protest over Indian authorities unilaterally tearing down consular facilities outside the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. He distinguished this from Islamabad’s own anti-encroachment drive, which diplomatic missions were notified about in advance.
Turning to Israeli settlements, Andrabi stated that Israel has zero right to build settlements in the West Bank, noting they are illegal under both the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council.
