KARACHI (Sept 3): Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi said that photojournalists are an important and powerful means of communication and dissemination of information. He said that a picture often conveys a message more effectively than many words.
The Governor made these remarks during his meeting with a delegation of photojournalists led by senior professional and former President of the Pakistan Association of Press Photographers (PAPP), Athar Khan, at the Governor House in Karachi.
The delegation included former PAPP Presidents Syed Abbas Mehdi and Syed Hamid Hussain, and Governing Body member Syed Imran Ali.

The Governor said that timely and effective photography is not merely a skill but an art, and introducing the younger generation to this art is an important need of the time. He added that the rapid growth of social media has further enhanced the importance and responsibilities of photojournalism.
Hashmi urged photojournalists to utilize their professional skills to project the positive image of the country and nation and promote constructive thinking in society. He said that positive, dignified and responsible journalism should be promoted instead of criticism, ridicule or content created merely for temporary entertainment.
On the occasion, former PAPP President Syed Abbas Mehdi, on behalf of the delegation, congratulated Nehal Hashmi on assuming the office of Governor Sindh and presented him with a bouquet.
The delegation thanked the Governor Sindh for recognizing and appreciating the professional role of photojournalists and expressed its commitment to continuing their professional responsibilities in a positive, responsible and effective manner.
